   11:30 AM The Encouragers will hold their monthly meeting at church with our Hostess Lucy Wirsing & Delores Glick as our Co-hostess. Lucy Wirsing will be sharing our devotional time. Please bring your own lunch (sandwich, salad, yogurt, etc.) Beverage & dessert will be provided. Ladies of all ages are welcome!    Joseph & Sarah Ryan serve with Chosen People Ministries in New York City. Joseph will be sharing God's Word in the worship services.
   8:15 AM Morning Worship.
   9:45 AM Adult classes will meet together to hear a ministry update from Joseph & Sarah. Sunday School classes for elementary students will meet as normal.
   11:00 AM Morning Worship.
   12:15 Potluck dinner with the Ryans.
   6:00 PM Acts 2:46 Night in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring your favorite game and a generous portion of your favorite snack or finger food. We will open with prayer and then fellowship with one another. We would like to get to know you.

   6:00 PM Awana Friends Carnival Night. A special outreach night to introduce children to Awana. In order for this event to be effective we are looking for those, who are not already Awana leaders, willing to serve at the carnival booths/games for that night. The commitment would include arriving no later than 5:45 to receive instructions, running a carnival game, and helping clean up, if able at 7:30. Through helping with the carnival games, you can help Awana leaders focus on sharing God's Word to children who come for the first time. Please see Pastor Brandon or Kathy McFeaters for more info.
   6:30 - 7:00 PM NO Prayer Meeting. Due to the Carnival and the need for many workers, we will not meet but ask you to "pray without ceasing"

   *10/31 6:00 PM Awana Halloween Outreach. This is a good opportunity for our church to meet and invite families who come to Avoca for trick-or-treating. There are two ways you can help: 1) donate pre-wrapped candy to give out, and/or 2) help pass out the treats 6-8 p.m. at the church on Halloween. Please see Pastor Brandon for more info.

   If you have requests for ministry areas that you work in, please forward your suggestions to the Trustees, as soon as possible.
   
   
Bylaws proposal.

   Please check your church mailboxes for a summary of the next part of the proposal for updating our church bylaws. The full side by side comparison is available on the welcome center. Please read through, pray through, and ask questions of the pastors and deacons in preparation for a vote during the Annual Business meeting.
   
   
Nominations for officers.

   The Annual Business meeting will be held on Sunday, November 5 to elect officers. You are invited in September to nominate to the Deacons those whom you feel God has gifted to serve.
   
   
Ministry Reports Due 10/08

   Our Annual Report will be published soon. If you have served in the church in a ministry capacity this year, an e-mail was sent to you that gives you the opportunity to submit a report. Your report needs to be returned to the church office no later than Sunday, Oct. 8. The easiest method is for you to e-mail it to firstbaptistavoca@firstbaptistavoca.org or submit a typed or neatly handwritten report.
   
   
Missionary Conference Series 2017 - First to Last, All Need To Hear

   This year's Missionary Conference Series continues with a missionary each month. Remember to come and support, encourage, and learn the latest about your missionaries! The remaining schedule is:
   -October 22 - John & Glenna Schlegel (Serving with SEND International in Lugones, Asturias, Spain): Potluck dinner after 2nd service
   -November 26 - Jim & Terry Miller (Serving with ABWE in South Africa): Potluck dinner after a combined 11am service
   
   
Missionary Christmas Fund

   As an expression of our love and appreciation for their partnership with us in proclaiming the gospel around the world, our church is seeking to give a financial gift to our partner missionaries this Christmas. If you would like to share in this gift, please contribute by designating your gift as "Missionary Christmas Offering" by the last Sunday in October. For more information, contact a member of the missions committee.
   
   
Adult Sunday School Classes September - December

   This is an opportunity to learn God's Word in a smaller group situation.
    Ladies class - Karen Payne will be leading Proverbs for Ladies: Not Just The 31st.
    Mixed- Pastor Brandon will be continuing the study on the Holy Spirit.
    Couples/Mixed- Pastor Bill will be facilitating a class on relationships, targeted to couples but open to all. We will be reviewing the Love & Respect (Pink & Blue) video series.
   
   
Halloween Tracts

   Are you thinking ahead to one of the greatest opportunities to witness? Halloween tracts are available that clearly explain the gospel of Jesus Christ. Please order by signing the sheet on the bulletin board by October 7th. The tracts cost about $.13 but we are glad to provide these for you to distribute.
   
   
New Phone Number.

   The new phone number for contacting Volney Wesche is 678-340-0356. Volney also sent a card. It is on the bulletin board by the water fountain.
   
   
Beckley Storage

   Ken & Sarah Beckley mentioned a need for roughly 200-300 square feet of dry storage space to store some of their items over the next 2 years, while they return to Benin. The space is needed before the end of September. Please contact Curt James if you can help.
